Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Fries Recipe

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20-25 minutes
Total Time: 30-35 minutes
Servings: 2-4

Ingredients:

  • 2 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic (or ½ teaspoon garlic paste)
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes

  1. Wash and scrub the potatoes under running water to remove dirt.
  2. Peel the potatoes if you prefer, or leave the skin on for extra crispiness.
  3. Cut the potatoes into thin strips (about ¼-inch thick) to resemble fries. Try to keep them uniform for even cooking.

Step 2: Soak the Fries (Important for Crispiness!)

  1. Place the cut fries in a large bowl and cover them with cold water.
  2. Let them soak for at least 15-30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps them crisp up better in the air fryer.
  3. Drain the water and pat the fries completely dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

Step 3: Season the Fries

  1. In a large bowl, toss the dried fries with olive oil to coat them evenly.
  2. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, and oregano (if using). Mix well so the fries are fully coated with seasoning.

Step 4: Air Fry the Fries

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  2. Arrange the fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to allow proper air circulation.
  3. Cook for 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  4. Increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) and cook for another 5-10 minutes until crispy and golden brown. Shake the basket every few minutes to ensure even cooking.

Step 5: Add Garlic Parmesan Flavor

  1. While the fries are hot, toss them with grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and fresh parsley.
  2. Mix well until the cheese melts slightly and coats the fries.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy!

  • Serve the fries immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, like ranch, garlic aioli, or ketchup.
  • Enjoy your crispy Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Fries!

Beginner Tips for Success:

Cut fries evenly: This ensures they cook at the same rate.
Do not skip soaking: It removes starch and makes the fries crispy.
Shake the basket: This prevents the fries from sticking together.
Avoid too much oil: Too much oil can make them soggy instead of crispy.
Work in batches if needed: Overcrowding the air fryer leads to uneven cooking.
